Claudia Morris: Love and Demons

"Claudia has that rare quality, a voice that is a pleasure to listen to, whatever she chooses to sing. She invests lyrics with a meaning that would thrill the lyricist... songs that Claudia sprinkles with her own undoubted talent."- Laurence Myers, West End Theatre Producer

"Claudia is remarkable. Not only has she a truly beautiful, rich and wonderfully expressive voice, which is already thrilling her audiences, but also she has an enormous drive and energy to create to her best.”
- Janet Edwards, international singer, pianist, composer and renowned vocal coach.

For some, a career in the music industry is simply a dream. For others, it is their destiny. Claudia Morris has had a lifelong relationship with music and the release of her debut album ‘Love & Demons’ sees a long awaited return to performing. Claudia’s beautiful, emotive and uplifting voice explores the full range of love’s emotions and the album features classics from Rodgers and Hart, Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Leonard Cohen and other great composers. It also includes a song written by up-and-coming songwriter Michael Bruce.

Thrust into the limelight at an early age Claudia, began realising her dream while attending one of the top London stage schools, Webber Douglas Academy. She had the opportunity early in her career to sing alongside the likes of Paul McCartney, Sarah Brightman, and Julia Ormond and sung and performed in Monte Carlo at the Grand Prix. But a decision Claudia would live to regret was not accepting the invitation to be a part of well-known music talent show Opportunity Knocks, and instead she chose to stay at the Webber Douglas Academy, who deny the chance for students to participate in any professional engagement whilst enrolled there.

She played Marsinah in Kismet at the Royalty Theatre, performed in Songbook at Saddlers Wells and also in Camelot at the Liverpool Playhouse. She was in Guys & Dolls at the Cheltenham Everyman Theatre and performed at The Hackney Empire, and then went on to play Maria Elena (Buddy's wife) on the original cast of Buddy in the West End. But it was not the dream she was looking for and she found the monotonous life of performing within a show quite lonely.

Frustrated with the route she had taken, she made the decision to give up her theatre career and start a family. But the sense of longing to perform often returned. Feeling unfulfilled and with the end of her marriage, Claudia sought comfort in psychotherapy and after 5 years of intense training became a qualified psychotherapist. In 2008 in her personal therapy she was encouraged to explore the dreams she had recorded in journals over the last 8 years. She found one particularly poignant dream from back in 2002. "In my dream I was given the task of drawing myself and I questioned whether I should draw myself as sad, or as a singer. This dream was a clear indication to me that I would not feel fulfilled until I sang again."

Her dream has now become a reality. After being encouraged to return to music, Claudia recorded "Love and Demons" and found the process so cathartic she felt for the first time in years a strong feeling of satisfaction and a sense that she was back where she belonged. With the guidance of top industry figures, such as singing tutor Janet Edwards (who spent years training and perfecting the techniques of Leona Lewis) and Simon Colam, a talented jazz pianist who currently works with the contestants on X Factor week by week, Claudia was able to find her destiny and now sing and perform once again.

"Ten Years of Talk in Mexico City"

Kit Records, 14 December 2009

After wowing crowds at various festivals, finishing at The Trees Festival in Gloucestershire, Vandeville Falls are preparing to release their upcoming album "Ten Years of Talk in Mexico City".

The band has acquired a timeless pop-folk style, which is certain to appeal to vast array of people. Lead singer Jenny Bailey warrants one's full attention as her storytelling charm is delivered through a tender yet powerful voice, the centrepiece of a sound that is contemporary yet classic, gentle yet uplifting, poppy and folky, crystal clear and infectious.

"Ten Years of Talk in Mexico City" includes previous single, "When I Fall", which blends bouncy percussion and acoustic guitar, tied together by an infectious vocal melody. In contrast, current single "Hey Now" demonstrates that Vandeville Falls have also mastered a dreamy, meditative style.

The album also features a cover of "Silence" by the Canadian electronic music group Delirium. Vandeville Falls do it justice with haunting vocals against minimal backing.

Bailey’s knack for classic pop hooks, combined with admirable Americana and folk constituents, plus her influences ranging from Fleetwood Mac, Cyndi Lauper, Coldplay and David Bowie makes the album a timeless classic.

Sgt Wolfbanger: pop-punk and a fun-loving ethos

Having laid out their manifesto in the North West of England, Sgt Wolfbanger have spent the last few years building a loyal fanbase devoted to the band’s music and fun-loving ethos. Serious about becoming national favourites, Sgt Wolfbanger release their debut album "Think Inside The Box" on S.A.C. Records.

Following their early success, the band were thrust into the limelight when asked to share a stage with McFly in front of 4,000 fans at Dorfold Park. Since then they have stamped their intent on the UK music scene with around 150 gigs nationwide.

Their debut album, "Think Inside the Box", is a perfect illustration of Sgt. Wolfbanger’s ability to wire their big sound with powerful melodies. They have mastered the art of writing songs that encompass epic choruses, weaving guitar parts and tight drum patterns, ensuring every song on their debut is just as infectious as the next.

Their melodic rock / pop-punk sound skirts around the softer moments of The Foo Fighters and draws comparisons to Dashboard Confessional, along with their Brit-Rock contemporaries such as Attack! Attack! and Kids In Glass Houses.

With a brand of music that can be appreciated by such a wide range of people, these boys have got something special just waiting to be pushed onto the big stage. With the gigs coming thick and fast, it shouldn’t be long before they are up in front of 4,000 people again.

Plaudits thick and fast for The October Game

"Wildblood"

The October Game have never been a band that would rush out a record that sold them short of the great talent that they possess. With hundreds of live shows under their belt this year already, including several showcases for the celebrated Fierce Panda label, headline slots on BBC Introducing Stages and most recently a headline slot at the Tom Robinson-curated "Fresh On The Net" showcase at Riverside Studios, "Wildblood" has been a labour of love for The October Game.

Mastered by Frank Arkwright (Arcade Fire, Gomez, Belle & Sebastian) at Metropolis Studios, London, the album leads with the empowering single Greenbacks; its uplifting atmosphere is wonderfully reflected in the huge chorus that just begs to be sung out loud.

The menacing bass line and contemplative lyrics of "Right on Time" lead us through to fan favourite "Concrete (When We Were Invincible)", a track that was selected for inclusion on The Guardian’s Mixtape earlier in the year and one that 6Music DJ Tom Robinson confessed as one of his favourite songs of 2009.

"Wildblood" is an album drenched in ideas. Album centrepiece "Something Wrong" ebbs and flows in the same way that the likes of Arcade Fire and Sigur Ros manage to do so intelligently and impressively with their own vivid soundscapes. The bustling percussion of "Where The Devil Loses Out" leads through to the rousing and emotive "Cast These Waves". Elsewhere on the album closer "Night Vessels", didgeridoos rumble side by side with sparkling electronic loops.

As "Wildblood" resolves itself it's easy to see why plaudits have been coming at the band thick and fast. Guy Garvey of Mercury-winning Elbow bought a pre-release copy after a recent live performance.

"Wildblood" is an album of true eclecticism, where jubilance, joy, frailty and sensitivity gush in parallel without ever losing sight of the vast amounts of personality and honesty that pour through each of the songs on the record. It's a breath of fresh air, and it evolves and changes with each listen, shedding light on different layers of the recordings, begging repeat plays and demanding to be heard by music lovers the world over.

Christmas single from Elio Pace

"What a Day"

"Wait until you hear this from Elio Pace"
Sir Terry Wogan

"Elio Pace... one of the best kept secrets in the world"
Dave Lee Travis

"An incredible talent, he's sensational!"
Nigel Lythgoe (television producer)

Elio Pace follows his immensely popular 'Take You Home' with a Christmas single that can't help but take you through the festive period with a skip in your step and a smile on your face.

There isn’t much this man can't do, and it's no wonder why he is regularly played on national radio or performing with some of our greatest musicians.

London-based Elio Pace is not only a singer and songwriter, but a sensational pianist, musical director, and producer.  He has over twenty years experience within the music industry and has enjoyed numerous plays on BBC Radio including many from fan Sir Terry Wogan. Elio was recently honoured when asked to feature on this year's Children In Need album 'Bandaged Together' where he brought the lesser-known Elvis Presley track 'Confidence' to life.

With 'What a Day' Elio gives a nod to the Rat Pack era of glamour and swing, and with its powerful and timeless big band sound, jubilant vocals and Elio’s blistering piano playing, the song looks set to become a Yuletide classic.

About Elio

Elio Pace (originally pronounced "Pa-che" but accepted as "Pace" when his parents migrated to London from Italy in the 1960s and continually had to correct people) has spent the last two decades writing and performing as a session musician and music director with various artists across the world, including the likes of Huey Lewis, Shakin' Stevens, Ronan Keating and Martha Reeves. His new album 'A Seat At My Table' also features special guest appearances by Elvis Presley's bass player, Jerry Scheff, and guitar legend Albert Lee. Elio also sang on the movie soundtrack for 'Severance' that went on to receive an Ivor Novello Award nomination.

Elio first came to the public's attention when he reached the final in the music reality talent show 'Bob Says Opportunity Knocks' at the age of 20. Whilst still at college, he won his heat with his own song and went on to perform it to a live television audience of more than 14 million viewers.

He was snapped up by one of the biggest showbiz agencies in London and subsequently opened for some of the biggest television stars of the time, including Michael Barrymore and Les Dawson. He was personally asked by Ronnie Corbett to be his special guest on his UK Tour and at the Dublin Comedy Festival.

Now aged 41, married and with a new baby daughter, Elio Pace and his phenomenal band are preparing for a nationwide UK tour starting in January.

For more information on Elio Pace and his new release please contact Kate Chaundy on 01223 410000 or at kate@quitegreat.co.uk.
